Welcome to
The Bum Steers website!
This is the place where you'll get the lowdown on this lowdown band of hick-rockers!

The Bum Steers
were born in the mountains of southern Vermont in the summer of 2001, conceived through a mix of Budweiser, Jim Beam, thin mountain air and poor judgment. Over the next year the boys rehearsed relentlessly, built up the song base and solidified the line-up. By the fall of 2002 they were ready to step out and hit the regional live music scene.

Playing all the fine clubs and roadhouses up and down the valley and beyond, the band has built a loyal and vocal following that never disappoints bartenders and servers. Bum Steers music has been described as cow punk, alt.country, roots rock, country rock, hick rock, barroom stomp and assorted other terms; take your pick, it doesn't matter, they're all pretty much the same. From Johnny Cash to Social Distortion, from Skynyrd to Steve Earle, from Robert Cray to the Beatles and all points in between, the Steers play it. Any given show will feature a mix of songs that are familiar and others that are obscure; either way the Steers put their own spin on them. Come to listen, dance, hoot and holler; whatever your pleasure, the Steers are here to help.
